Kara L. Heikkila

Kara has over 25 years of experience as an attorney advising employers on personnel and employment law matters. Before attending law school, she spent eleven years in management and human resource roles in the healthcare industry. Today, Kara’s practice includes the representation of employers throughout the Pacific Northwest before state and federal courts and administrative agencies. Kara routinely provides advice to employers on complex personnel issues including Americans with Disabilities Act and Family Medical Leave Act compliance, wage and hour compliance, discrimination claims, and contract and handbook drafting. Kara conducts independent investigations of employment-related complaints, provides training for employers on various workplace topics, and is a frequent speaker on employment law topics.
Mediator
Kara attended the Program on Negotiation at Harvard Law School for Executive Education, where she completed the Harvard Mediation Intensive. She focuses her work as a mediator on employment-based dispute resolution and brings her years of work as an employment litigator and negotiator, counselor, and human resource manager to the table.
